Narayan Iyer

A commerce graduate and a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) awarded by Insurance Institute of Canada following completion of professional exams, supported by several decades of experience in the General Insurance Industry specializing in Marine other and specialty class of business.

Having worked with Marine insurers of international repute at a senior management level including Norwich Union, Bahrain, CNA Canada , LLoyds Syndicate cover holder Canada, and until recently Worked as a Senior Vice President of Claims at Union Insurance , UAE responsible for Claims & Risk Management. Currently, working as an Independent Insurance & Reinsurance Claims Consultant in collaboration with Colleyers International based in UK and have been named on the reinsurance binders of one of the LLoyds Syndicate in London for claims handling. During this journey spanning over decades, dealt with many complex risks in the area of Marine Energy, Cargo, Hull, Stevedores, Terminal Operators, Wharfingers and ship repairers’ legal liability claims- including proactive litigation management and successfully negotiated many out of court settlements in the area of both defence and subrogation matters at various international jurisdictions.

On the Professional industry Association front, served as a Chair of Claims & Loss prevention committee of Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters ( CBMU) as well as sat on the board of CBUU. CRMU is a national Association of all Marine Insurers in Canada. CBMU nominated me to the Claims & Loss Prevention Committee of IUMI during the year 2010 through 2014. During this tenure, attended many seminars across the globe and arranged many educational seminars of interest to Marine insurers
